Investigation of the causes of flooring material deterioration

Investigating the causes of warping and discoloration of flooring! Conducting a "urine stain test" to examine the presence of urine.

We would like to introduce the "Investigation into the Causes of Flooring Material Degradation" conducted by our company. In residential flooring, warping of the floor material occurred, and the insulation material inside had turned yellow, prompting an investigation into the cause. The degradation of the flooring material was not due to a malfunction of the floor heating system, but rather suggested to be related to the presence of pets. [Investigation Details] ■ Sample collection on-site ■ Urine stain test on the collected samples *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.

Investigation of the causes of deterioration in bathtubs

We can propose countermeasures based on an understanding of the factors that caused the alteration!

Due to localized deterioration occurring in the bathtub of a general residence, we were requested by the residents to investigate the cause and countermeasures, so we conducted a site survey. As a result of the inspection, multiple adherent substances were visually identified at the positions indicated by sticky notes on the bathtub, which were considered to be the cause of the deterioration. These adherent substances were all irregularly shaped and exhibited a brown color, measuring approximately 0.5 to 1 mm in size. We collected these brown adherent substances on-site and conducted elemental analysis using an electron probe microanalyzer (EPMA/EDS). The main constituent elements detected were iron and oxygen, which contribute to the brown color, leading us to conclude that the adherent substances were rust. Based on the analysis results, we proposed and implemented cleaning with a rust remover, successfully removing the brown adherent substances and restoring the bathtub. 【Elemental analysis results of the brown adherent substances by EPMA/EDS】 ■Detection intensity - Elements detected with strong intensity: Oxygen (O), Iron (Fe) - Elements detected with medium intensity: Carbon (C), Titanium (Ti), Calcium (Ca) - Elements detected with weak intensity: Silicon (Si), Copper (Cu), Chlorine (Cl), Zinc (Zn), etc. *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.
